What Is A Neck Lift?

The neck lift is an incredibly popular cosmetic procedure due to its ability to address some of the most common signs of aging. Dr. Parakh’s painstaking surgical skill and artistic sensibility combine to deliver stunning yet natural-looking outcomes.

Why Patients Love the Neck Lift Procedure

  • Reduces a double chin or a “turkey wattle”
  • Improves wrinkles and crepe-like skin
  • Achieves elegant contours and definition
  • Improves skin tone and texture
  • Reduces jowls
  • Improves definition in the jawline
  • Delivers long-lasting results
  • Boosts self-image and confidence

Why Choose a Neck Lift?

If the youthful contours that once defined your neck and jawline have begun to fade with time, you are not alone. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and elastin, proteins that keep the skin looking firm and smooth. The decrease in collagen leads to drooping, sagging, and the development of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, stubborn pockets of excess fatty tissue can compromise the profile.

Your Consultation With Dr. Parakh

During your consultation with Dr. Parakh, she will delve into your personal history, as well as your concerns and cosmetic goals. She will explain all available options to you for improving the appearance of your neck, and together, you will create a personalized treatment plan.

Dr. Parakh will go over the risks and benefits of the procedure, your recovery timeline, and what you can expect from your final outcome. You will then meet with our patient coordinator who will discuss financing options and help you schedule the surgery.

Neck Lift Techniques

During your neck lift consultation, Dr. Parakh will select a surgical technique that is personalized for your unique physical characteristics and goals. She will explain her approach in great detail, so you know exactly what to expect.

Neck Liposuction

In some instances, the presence of excess fatty tissue may be all that is detracting from your appearance. When this is the case, liposuction is sufficient to remove the excess fat deposits and create a more elegant, contoured profile.

Cervicoplasty

Excess sagging skin can obscure an otherwise youthful-looking appearance. Cervicoplasty is a process by which Dr. Parakh can lift and tighten the skin of your neck while removing excess skin that is contributing to a more aged appearance.

Platysmaplasty

This technique is similar to cervicoplasty, although it addresses the platysma muscle. The muscle will be repositioned, or a portion of it will be either removed or realigned (according to your treatment plan) to create a more supple and youthful look.

The Day of Your Procedure

A neck lift takes between 3-4 hours to complete and will be performed under general anesthesia. After a brief stay in our recovery area following your neck lift in New Jersey, you’ll be able to go home the same day as your procedure. However, be aware that you will need a ride home due to the anesthesia.

Your Recovery and Results

Dr. Parakh will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions along with medications to prevent infection and ensure your comfort. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled so that Dr. Parakh can check in on you and monitor your progress, and you will receive a detailed timeline that explains when you can resume certain activities. You will need to avoid strenuous activities for at least two weeks, though we do recommend lighter activities like walking around once or twice per day. This can improve circulation and optimize healing.

Neck Lift FAQs:

What are the risks?

Can a neck lift be combined with other procedures?

What are the risks?

All surgeries come with inherent risks. These may include infection, swelling, poor reactions to anesthesia, temporary numbness, nerve damage, and fluid buildup, among others. Dr. Parakh takes care to minimize these risks through a painstaking and precision-oriented approach.

Can a neck lift be combined with other procedures?

Yes. A neck lift is often performed at the same time as a facelift to comprehensively address all signs of aging. Some patients also choose to undergo eyelid surgery or a brow lift in tandem with their neck lift.
